Stoning an Avocado

Varieties1. Cut in half lengthways through the skin down to the stone and all the way around

2. Hold the avocado in both hands and twist the two halves in opposite directions. Then gently pull the two halves apart

3. Take the half with the stone in the centre, ease out with a spoon then lift up the stone and discard.

4. The flesh will begin to discolour quite quickly - to avoid this, gently run tap water over the exposed skin or brush with lemon juice. If you are preparing an avocado salad in advance, put the stone in the salad bowl as this will help prevent discolouring.
