The two main avocado varieties that will be available this summer are Fuerte, which has a green skin, and the dark, purple-green, knobbly skinned Hass.

All have the same health benefits and a large proportion will be available ripe and ready to eat.

Summer Avocados are picked during the sunny South African autumn and winter. By the time they reach our shops they will be ready to ripen in a few days or ripe and ready to eat straightaway.

Pinkerton, Ryan and Edranol are available in the UK aswell, although in small quantities.  Maluma-Hass and Lamb Hass are new variants that are starting to make an appearance in the UK, but are still relatively unknown.
